Command Chief
Chief Master Sergeant Mataya C. Williams is the ninth Command Chief Master Sergeant of the 187th Fighter Wing, Dannelly Field, Ala. Chief Williams is the senior enlisted leader of the Wing and its three geographically separated units (GSUs), responsible for advising the commander on readiness, mission effectiveness, professional development, training, utilization, health, morale, and welfare of the wing’s enlisted force.
Chief Williams entered the Army in Aug 1997 under the Delayed Entry Program. She completed Army Basic Military Training in 1998 at Fort Leonardwood, MO and Advanced Individual training at Fort Lee, VA. Her first duty station was Fort Hood, TX assigned to 104th Military Intelligence Battalion from Jan 1999- July 2001; Chief Williams was assigned to the Army Reserves 926th Engineer Battalion from Aug 2001- Aug 2004. She entered the Alabama Air National Guard and joined the 187th Fighter Wing in September 2004 as a member of the Logistics Readiness Squadron. She has held multiple Air Force Specialty Codes and leadership positions including serving in the Traffic Management Office, Supply Orderly Room Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) in Charge, Wing Administrative Assistant, and Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force (BEEF) Manager.
Prior to her selection, Chief Williams was the Civil Engineer Squadron Superintendent where she mentored and advised the squadron’s Airmen and Senior NCOs and provided counsel to the squadron commander.
